The application of the Pre Painted Priming Wood Trim Molding Inside House
When installing painted or field-finished wood trim (crown molding, chair rails, window and door casings, baseboards), builders and homeowners keep getting involved in sanding, puttying, and refilling that on‑site touch‑up painting job at the end. All these gaps from miter joints, holes where nails went in, and defects on the surface require repeated filling, sanding, and priming to prepare the surface for the final topcoat.
In fact, not only is it a labor-intensive activity, but it also creates dust and very unpleasant fumes. Also, the resulting coat is not evenly colored, so that the use of brush painting and the use of the roller painting can be easily spotted. Furthermore, it is nearly impossible to achieve a completely invisible gap between the pieces or cover up a hole in the wood with a nail without the perfect filler. Whenever this kind of gap opens between two pieces, the shrinkage of the filler will show cracks.
We can assume that in almost every room, the surface preparation that is necessary for this kind of work - that would mean sanding the wooden material, applying primer, and sanding the work again afterwards - alone consumes 45‑60 minutes before it is even possible to begin a decorating coat.
Our Solution
We offer pre-primed wood trim moldings (which come in premium MDF or solid wood) that are already factory-sanded to 220 grit and are uniformly coated with a layer of primer of about 30 microns - there is also an optional factory-applied topcoat if it is requested. This primer has been specially developed to prevent tannin stains and provide excellent glue-down to the surface, so it allows you not to have to deal with messy sanding and priming of the entire surface. Once the installation is done, you are only supposed to spot- fill the nail holes and small gaps left between joints, which is why we provide you with color matching putty. Also, lightly sand these minuscule places only, but there is no need to have to sand the whole running length of the molding. This way, you are actually saving at least 40 minutes per room on preparation time by reducing dust and fumes and guaranteeing you a factory-smooth, streak-free base that accepts final paint flawlessly. Not only are molding products 20% lighter than solid wood profiles, but their handling and cutting are also much easier. Thanks to consistent factory thickness and precisely machined profiles, your miters will fit more closely, thus reducing the need for extra caulking and filling. Our pre-primed wooden trim is the choice to save on labor, improve the air quality, and to obtain a quality finish every time.
