There are three major problems that arise when installing chair rails and panels moulding, namely inconsistency of the profile resulting in spaces appearing at joints, rough surfaces necessitating additional sanding before painting, and warping caused by moisture. In case of a room requiring 20 linear meters of chair rail, these problems will add an extra 1 to 2 hours of work.

Kiln drying ensures our pine chair rail and panel moulding have moisture content of 8% -12% while precise machining makes it accurate to 0.3mm tolerance, ensuring straight and stabilized profile that joints tightly. The surface is pre-sanded to 180# and primed (DFT of 25um), ready for topcoating without the need for intensive on-site sanding (only light joint touch-up may be required after installation). Our products can be provided in pine, MDF, or MR MDF.

Surface Treatment

• Two layers of primer to enhance the adhesion and protect the base

Production Process

• Preparation of Raw Material: Logs of the timber are initially converted into planks and carefully chosen for further treatment.

• Controlled Kiln Drying: The timber is processed through controlled drying in a kiln to have a moisture content of 8% - 12%.

• Conditioning of Material: Post kiln drying process, wood is stored in the storehouse for about 20 days to maintain a moisture content of 8%-12%. This M/C equilibration results in lower chances of distortion, warping, and dimensional changes, thus making the manufactured moldings and doorframes more stable.

• Finger Jointing and Profiling: First, the defects in the wood are removed prior to the finger jointing process. Subsequently, the wood is machined in an extremely precise manner using a Weinig four side moulder. This technique not only helps in achieving better profile machining along with minimal wastage but also keeps up the quality of customized wooden handrails and stair handrail profiles.

• Primers & Painting: Products are coated with 2 primer layers with sanding in between, with a water base top layer. The resulting surface is even and consistent, to be prepared for coating post-installation.

• Inspection: Before packaging, each handrail is subjected to inspection using digital callipers (accuracy of 0.01mm). Tolerances in dimensions are confirmed – width/ thickness ± 0.3mm, profile accuracy ±0.3mm. The visual inspection of surface finish is performed under normal light – all items that have scratches, abrasions or any issues with painting are disposed of.

• Packaging: The finished product is packed into the shrinkable PVC film and delivered on wood pallets.

• Cost for Samples: Free for normal profile. Cost for customized samples and the cost can be refunded when placing the bulk order.
